Qudsia Hussain
Artist member since 2022
Mississauga, Ontario
My name is Qudsia Hussain. I am a Pakistani Canadian Muslim woman. I have attended Ocad University and recently graduated from the drawing and painting program. In my last year at Ocad University I was working on my thesis and created nine paintings. My paintings are self-portraits that question and accept my identity, positionality and social archetypes. My paintings investigate Who am I? What am I? And how am I perceived? My self-portraits are in acrylic paint on canvas with mixed media. My paintings consist of personal narratives, media references, cultural motifs, and childhood nostalgia. I have recently completed my artist residency at Gladstone House.
